Kylee Tore her MCL!!

Kylee went skiing with her class. She was having a blast learning how to ski. Kylee is also up for an adventure. Anyway the last run of the day, her skis got twisted together and she fell over in pain. She was carried down the mountain (which she loved) and checked out by a doctor. He told her that we needed to take her in that night to look at it. They did x-rays and tested it and determined that she tore her MCL. The ligament that runs on the inside of the leg. We were told over and over again that this is not an injury that little kids get. At first they thought she might have to have surgery. YIKES! Bryce and our neighbor gave her a blessing that night. The next day we took her to see the orthopedic doctor. He said that it was not bad enough for surgery. She had to wear the straight leg brace for three weeks. Then the other brace for a week. We would have to bend her leg after a few weeks in the brace so her knee would not stiffen up. That was painful for all of us. You hate to see your child in pain, but to be the one inflecting is even harder. She has to wear the brace when she is active and has to do more therapy (She needs to ride her bike and walk on the treadmill). She will be wearing it through soccer and softball season, but she can play. We ran into her softball coach when she was in the straight brace and he was really worried she would not be back this season. Was it all bad. No, this is Kylee we are talking about. She LOVED all the extra ATTENTION she got. We are glad that she is doing better. Look at her bend her leg.
